Old friends Saswata Chatterjee and Debleena Dutt have decided to shed their inhibitions for the telefilm Majhrastar Meye, directed by Suman Das. The duo are gearing up to shoot a “very bold” scene in bed!

Majhrastar Meye is about Runa (Debleena), a schoolteacher, and Sid (Saswata), a fashion photographer, who have long been in love. But an element of boredom has crept into their relationship. “That’s when Runa and Sid decide to play a game of lust. I think the concept is very realistic. Such things happen to couples who lose interest in each other after being together for a long time,” says Debleena.

Her co-star is tired of beating around the bush when it comes to expressing love on screen. “How long will we show birds and bees in love scenes? The world has moved on and we should portray intimate scenes realistically.... Majhrastar Meye has a very bold climax scene. Even the dialogues are bold,” says Saswata.

But won’t their boldness make their audience shift in their seats? “After 14 years of being in the TV industry, I can assure you that my audience will accept me in whatever I do,” says a confident Debleena. “For me, saying ‘I love you’ is the same as unbuttoning the heroine’s kurti,” says Saswata, matter-of-factly. The two have already shot some portions in Maithan.

Majhrastar Meye will be aired in the late-night Prapto Monoskoder Jonnyo slot on Rupashi Bangla.
